We know that your name is Thomas Tibitanzl, but where are you from and what do you do for a living ?
I was born in Prague and lived there for 4 years, in 1989 we moved to Munich in Germany. I quite miss Prague, it’s a beautiful city where you find lots of inspiration, the city is very rich culture. As a professional I do web design and graphic design as a freelancer.
How you got started in the design field ?
In my teenage I got interested in computers and started to surf on the internet. I was fascinated by various websites and promised myself, that one day I will have my own website too. After I set these goals, I started to study and learn how to create such amazing websites. Back then I tried different freeware graphic and webmaker programs, that had premade graphics, like buttons, and lot of bling bling animated crap . I wasn’t satisfied with the results and after more research I discovered Photoshop 5.0 and Flash 5.0. That’s where my experiments started!
I will always be interested in what people use for inspiration. What do you use ?
I am mostly inspired by music and films, culture and nature, design and art, technology, history and politics, my attitude and point of view and life in general.
Which was your biggest project ? And, did you enjoyed it ?
A client wanted to build a brand new community, I designed everything from logo ( name + claim )
to a corporate identity, website design and developed it afterwards. In the beginning he seems friendly and paid me a part of the sum, but after some time he always wanted to change something, added new features that were not planned in the first place and always complaint about something. Then it reached the point, where he aborted the project ( although it was nearly completed ) and didn’t pay the rest.
I have lost a lot of time and the whole project was just stressful experience…
Can you talk a little about your creation process ?
Unlike most of the artist that scribble down their ideas, the whole process takes place in my mind.
Everytime, I choose a different theme with a unique concept/idea and let it visually imagine. My head works like a virtual playground, without any restriction or boundaries, I just have my total freedom.
When I am happy with the imagination and how the artwork will look like, I open Photoshop and start to realize it as accurate as possible. That’s the most fun part and it’s always a challenge.
What other hobbies do you have, besides design ? (music, movies, tv shows etc.)
I am addicted to music and always in the search for new good stuff for the collection.
It’s the same with films, I love a lot of film directors and their work. I am interested in culture, history and everything related to art. As for activity, I like following sports: swimming and diving, table tennis and badminton.
What software do you use for creating your amazing artwork? Also, MAC or PC ?
Photoshop is my main weapon, but to create some elements in my artworks, I use Cinema 4D, Poser and Illustrator. Well I build my own modified Shuttle-Barebones, I love these cubes. They have the same performance as normal pc towers, but they are small ( you can put them in a backpack ) and good looking little powerhouse box
Which one is your favorite artwork ? And how much time did you dedicated on doing it ? (on this one send it to us to feature it)
I can’t say which one is my favorite, because I put all my passion and my best in every single piece.
I think every other artist or designer feel the same, let the viewer decide! In general I need 4 – 6 weeks to create one artwork, sometimes even longer, that depends on various factors of the artwork…
